I’ve bought other books by Aaron Clarey in the past, and have found a few gems. This isn’t one of them.
The entire book/essay can be summarized in two sentences: “Christian religious beliefs are so varied that none of them are probably right, so you should enjoy sex based purely on what you and your partner want; not what your individual pastor or priest advocates for. And anyway, if you want it to, the bible can be interpreted as a pro-sex book, so have at it.”
The two star rating is because of the message of the book — the three missing are because the arguments and supporting evidence are flimsy at best.
Case-in-point: In Chapter Four, the author lists a series of theological terms and then states, “Even after looking them up, I still don’t know what they mean.” (Yes, actual direct quote.) I would have thought that, to write a persuasive essay, you would have to at least understand the subject matter you are arguing against, but what do I know.
If you want a pragmatic, ranting exposition of the two sentences listed above, buy this book. Else, don’t bother.

So, they’re Not “aghast” about the Behavior of their fellow people, they’re Aghast at being held accountable, for that behavior. So, in a way, they’re simply Condoning that behavior.
