The only thing more frightening than reading “Brave New World” and “1984” in a modern context is seeing how those books are taught to high school students. Every classic dystopian novel has been reinterpreted as a feminist victory over the “patriarchal” totalitarian state.
Many schools are already replacing “1984” with the Orwell estate-approved “Julia: A Retelling of George Orwell’s 1984.”
