Genetically speaking white DNA tends to be recessive, hence it is highly probable that a kid from a mixed race couple will resemble the non-white parent, that is why you tend to always see mixed kids as looking ethnic.
I suspect that if the white kid looked very white and possessed no visible non-white attributes it is likely the kid had white parents.
