Stating The Obvious 0710 – Movie Review: Fight Club. The First Rule of The Cynical Libertarian Society Is You Do Not Talk About The Cynical Libertarian Society. — 11 Comments

  1. Good analysis. Better (or at least more useful) than the one provided by Vox Day, who asserts that anyone who likes this book or movie is simply a latent homo.

    • Released in 1999; i.e., prior to wokism and when everyone had the sense to ignore (at the time, “third-wave”) feminism, the default perfunctory female/beta cuck take on Fight Club was homosexuality. They tried to bend the line: “We’re a generation of men raised by women. I’m wondering if another woman is really the answer we need.” as men should repudiate women and become homosexuals. The more tonally coherent interpretation is that: bereft of male influence and role-models in childhood; it has been left to mothers to shape their son’s raison d’être and they have misguidedly given them female aspirations; i.e., finding a partner and procreating. To become men, man-boys need to repudiate their mother’s prescriptions and make something of themselves.

  2. I’m glad that you enjoyed it – imagine if you’d seen it at the cinema back in 1999; it was an important part of my mid-twenties epiphany re: life, the universe and everything. A minor aside – I love that this film, unlike so many modern ones, does not use popular songs (rather than an original score) to affect the audience; this then sets-up the surprise Pixies ending.

  3. As for the forum posts – it would be good to receive notification of replies to my posts; however, being that the forum posts tend to be sparse and recherche, I might like to receive notifications for all comments…

  4. Aye I wouldn’t mind notifications for comment threads, sounds better than checking in every few days to see if people are still active on older posts.
